VRE work to close Franconia-Springfield stairs

The Virginia Railway Express will begin work on stairs at the Franconia-Springfield station on Wednesday, causing midday closings for three days on these stairs.

Concrete repair work will necessitate the closure of the stairs between the Metro station and the pedestrian overhead bridge. The stairs will be closed during the middle of the day on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, but the agency expects the stairs to be reopened for the evening commute. They also expect that this work will be done by the end of the week.

The agency approved renovations to the Franconia-Springfield station in June, as the Post’s Jennifer Buske reported.
