Delays after car veers off roadway in Gaithersburg

Update, 7:25 a.m.:

The ramp from southbound I-270 to eastbound 370 has reopened following this morning’s crash.

Original post, 6:27 a.m.:

Drivers in Montgomery County are urged to avoid southbound I-270 in Gaithersburg after a car veered off the roadway and into nearby woods.

Officials said the crash happened shortly before 6 a.m. on the ramp from southbound I-270 to eastbound 370.

The ramp is closed and officials said all lanes leading up to the ramp are blocked due to the crash.

The driver has been removed from the vehicle and is being transported to a local hospital. No information was available about the driver’s identity or condition. No other vehicles were involved.

Officials did not have an estimated time when the roadway would reopen. Drivers are urged to avoid the area.
