There are major delays Wednesday morning on the Fairfax County Parkway after a crash.

Fairfax County Police said the accident occurred around 8:15 a.m. on the Fairfax County Parkway near New Road. A vehicle went into a ditch, and one of the people in the vehicle was trapped. The person was rescued and transported to an area hospital.

Crews are working to reconstruct the accident, and that meant the northbound lanes of the parkway in the area were closed for 50 minutes. Just after 9 a.m., the left lane of the northbound side was getting by, according to police. Officials said they did not know when the road will fully reopen.
