Baltimore-Washington Parkway reopens after crash

All lanes have reopened in both directions.

Southbound lanes have reopened.

U.S. Park Police officials reported they had reopened travel lanes, then corrected to say lanes were expected to open soon. Northbound lanes are still closed at Powder Mill Road, with traffic able to enter northbound at Route 197. Southbound lanes are closed at Route 197, with traffic able to enter southbound at Powder Mill Road.

Northbound and southbound lanes on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway have reopened after a crash sent two people to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries. Major delays continue in both directions.

In addition to northbound closures, all southbound lanes also are closed.  Delays extend several miles in both directions.

Metro warned that its B30 buses, which travel between the Greenbelt station and Baltimore-Washington International Airport, are running up to 15 minutes late as a result of the crash.

Updated at 3:45 p.m.:

Northbound lanes remain closed and officials are urging drivers to find alternate routes. U.S. Park Police said the crash involved three vehicles and doesn’t appear to be weather-related. Two people were flown to local hospitals.

Northbound lanes of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway are closed after a crash left two people with injuries that authorities say are considered life-threatening.

The crash occurred about 2:20 p.m. between Powder Mill Road and Route 197. Traffic is being diverted to Powder Mill Road, according to U.S. Park Police.

Prince George’s County fire officials said two people were extricated.
