Interstate 270 south reopens

Police said all lanes of Interstate 270 southbound have reopened after an earlier crash. Two people were transported with minor injuries, according to Maryland State Police.

It is the second time this week there has been an accident in that same area of Rockville. On Monday, there was an accident involving several cars on the southbound lanes of Interstate 270 near Route 28 as well. There were no life threatening injuries in Monday’s incident.

Maryland State Police said three of four lanes on southbound Interstate 270 in Rockville are shutdown Tuesday morning because of an accident involving eight vehicles.

The crash occurred about 7:15 a.m. near the Route 28 exit. One lane is getting by, police said. It was not immediately known how long the roadway would be closed, officials said.

Police said they did not immediately know the conditions of those involved in the crash.
