Bus caught fire on I-95 in Baltimore

Updated at 8:02 p.m.

A bus caught fire in Baltimore on Thursday evening, shutting down all northbound lanes of I-95 between O’Donnell Street and Eastern Avenue.

Lanes opened again by 8 p.m., but the Maryland Transit Authority said that traffic was delayed for up to three miles.

A Maryland Transit Authority spokesman said that the cause of the fire was unknown. The bus, which he said appeared to be a commercial vehicle, not a public bus, had just passed through the toll plaza around 6:20 p.m. when someone noticed flames. The driver pulled over to the side of the road.

No one was hurt, Maryland Transit Authority spokespeople said.

The fire was extinguished before 7 p.m., according to the spokesman.
