Updated: 7:40 a.m.

Police said normal rush-hour traffic has resumed along I-270 after a backup Monday morning.

Original post: 6:39 a.m.

Maryland State Police said an accident has traffic at a standstill on I-270 Monday morning.

Authorities had blocked one lane while they worked on a 6 a.m. motorcycle and vehicle crash southbound on the highway, south of Rt. 109. The lane reopened by 6:30 a.m., but delays on I-270 continued.

Police said the backup stretches for eight miles from Frederick to Montgomery County. Authorities said troopers are waiting for a tow truck.
