Prince George’s County police said a fatal single-vehicle accident in Accokeek shut down part of Floral Park Road on Tuesday morning.

Officer Nicole Hubbard, a police spokeswoman, said a privately owned ambulance crashed in the 4900 block of Floral Park Road around 2:10 a.m. Police, who identified the driver as 31-year-old Andraes Lee Wagner of Crofton, said he was driving alone.

Hubbard said the driver lost control of the ambulance for unknown reasons and struck a pole and a tree. Wagner died on the scene.

Authorities believe speed was a factor in the crash. Investigators do not know where Wagner was headed before the accident, said Officer Harry Bond, a police spokesman.

Police shut down Floral Park Road near the accident. The two-lane road remained closed as of 5:40 a.m.

Authorities ask that anyone with information about this case call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s collision analysis and reconstruction unit at (301) 731-4422. Callers wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477), text “PGPD” and a message to CRIMES (274637) or go to
