Oshiomogho Atogwe intercepted a pass in the fourth quarter of the Redskins’ Jan. 1 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. (Jonathan Newton / Washington Post)

He texted “It is true” to Chris Russell of ESPN 980, confirming a report that he would be joining the Philadelphia Eagles. The move was initially reported by Arash Madani of Sportsnet, but has not yet been finalized. The team is at the roster limit and will have to make a cut.

Atogwe, who missed three games with hamstring, knee and toe injuries, never quite lived up to the reputation he established in six seasons in St. Louis. He was signed as a free agent by the Redskins in March 2011 and released by the team a little over a year later.

If nothing else, a secondary that includes Oshiomogho Atogwe and Nnamdi Asomugha may make for some interesting broadcasts.
