The 2012 Masters champion has never had a golf lesson, has never broken down his swing by watching frames of videotape. Bubba Watson is a Georgia Dawg, the shirtless guy in overalls in the Golf Boys video, the one with the pink golf club who also happens to be the proud owner of an iconic classic car.

And to think this whole roll that Watson is on — fatherhood in late March, victory in a major in early April — started when he purchased his “dream car,” the General Lee from “The Dukes of Hazzard” in late January.

A couple of wins later and he held her to the promise, although the confederate flag on the roof was problematic.

“I said it’s not about the confederate flag, it’s about the show and what it stands for,” he said. “It’s the most recognizable car. So years and years of persuading her, it didn’t help. Then finally we’ve never been to the Barrett-Jackson [auto auction], because I’ve always played the Hope, now the Humana. So I took it off this year. So a friend asked us to go and it was just sitting there.”

The General Lee, like the Masters, was a dream. “I almost passed out when I saw it,” Watson said. The car is “jump ready” with roll bars, Watson said, and “it’s not like it’s easy to get into.” He did not plan to do any jumps in the car, even before he was the Masters champ.

“But I want to drive it,” Watson said in January. “I’m not going to sit like an old man and stare at it in the garage. I’m going to drive it, honk the horn at people and all that good stuff.”

He should wear the green jacket when he does.

So happy for @bubbawatson ... One of the good guys!!! Take the general lee for some donuts in the Masters parking lot!!!
