Reports surfaced during the NFL’s championship games Sunday that he was in talks to make the jump to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are seeking a replacement for Raheem Morris. But by early Monday morning, Kelly had changed his mind, according to the Eugene Register-Guard and Tampa Bay Times.

“His heart is with college and Oregon,” Bucs General Manager Mark Dominik told the Times’ Rick Stroud, “and he’s no longer being considered.”

Just how close did Kelly come to leaving for the NFL, where the uniforms are decidedly uncooler?

A University of Oregon source told the Eugene newspaper Sunday night that a deal was ”done” and then, just before midnight, Kelly told the source, according to Adam Jude, “I’m staying.”
