Chris Johnson finally got money. Finally. (John Raoux/AP)

Took you long enough!

For the second consecutive year Johnson was a no-show at training camp while making his desire to become the NFL’s highest paid running back quite clear to his organization.

The Titans didn’t back down, even after general manager Mike Reinfeldt said the team was willing to make their disgruntled back the top-paid rusher. An unsuccessful meeting between the two sides sparked potential trade rumors, then the Titans placed Johnson on the reserve/did not report list, and just yesterday Johnson told all the “fake Titan fans” to shut up.

For future reference, when a star player bashes his fans it means he’s about to sign a massive contract extension with his team. Who knew?

Can these fake Titan fans STFU on my timeline I don’t have a regular job so don’t compare me to you and I can care less if uthink I’m greedyWed Aug 31 17:13:49 via EchofonChris Johnson

Johnson’s new deal — which will keep him under contract through 2016 — will in fact make him the league’s second-highest paid running back behind Adrian Peterson. According to a person familiar with the contract who spoke to the Associated Press, Johnson will receive an $30 million guaranteed. He will now make $9.21 this season — a significant bump from the $1.065 he was slated to bring in. Johnson’s deal will average $13.375 million per year starting in 2013.

Peterson, whose contract runs out after this season, will make $10.7 million. Johnson’s new deal — particularly the guaranteed money — will surely impact his contract negotiations in Minnesota.

So now the Titans have their most explosive player in their backfield, Johnson can pad his pockets and everyone is happy. Especially the real Titans fans.

My titan fans taking it all wrong I’m talking to the ones writing me racist Comments. I’m not call the Titan fans fake at all. #LUVWed Aug 31 20:51:53 via EchofonChris Johnson
