Dallas Cowboys, Andre Gurode reach decision to part ways

The Dallas Cowboys and five-time Pro Bowl center Andre Gurode have reached a mutual decision to part company.

“We have met with the team and the mutual decision is to move on,” Gurode’s agent, Kennard McGuire, told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Gurode, 33, is a 10-year veteran who is coming off knee surgery in June. His base salary for 2011 was $5.5 million; he will count $1.6 million in dead money against the salary cap this year and $1.6 million next year.

Although he is out until the season opener because of a sprained knee, Phil Costa is expected to be the starter.
