Abby Wambach wasn’t the only player to score a highlight-reel goal over the weekend.

Global soccer icon David Beckham reminded Los Angeles Galaxy fans why there’s a movie bearing his name when he bent a right-footed corner through Chicago Fire goalkeeper Sean Johnson’s legs and into the net for the winning goal in a 2-1 victory.

Beckham, who earned his keep with precise and lethal set pieces while playing for England’s national team, had quite the weekend, and the nutmeg goal was only the beginning.

After his gorgeous tally Saturday night, Beckham, 36, and wife Victoria Beckham welcomed their fourth child, Harper Seven Beckham into the world Sunday morning. Harper is the couple’s first daughter.

Soccer Insider blogger Steven Goff is already looking ahead to the 2031 Women’s World Cup :

“Harper Seven Beckham was born in Los Angeles, meaning she’s eligible for the U.S. women’s national team, right? 2031 Women’s World Cup!”

Becks capped his big weekend when he was voted to the MLS All-Star team by fans. On July 27 the MLS squad will take on Beckham’s former employer and international powerhouse Manchester United.

Best. Weekend. Ever.

The MLS team also includes Galaxy and U.S. national team hero Landon Donovan and former-Arsenal and France (and current Red Bulls) star Thierry Henry.
