NBA playoffs: LeBron James apologizes for ‘The Decision’

After The Victory, LeBron James offered The Apology and The Explanation for The Decision. It’s unclear what he’ll do for an encore if the Miami Heat win the NBA championship — wait, last night’s victory over the Boston Celtics clinched a series and not the title? — but there’s no reason to think about that just yet.

Take his apology — needed or not — for what it is as you ponder King James’ pantheon of past postseason shots and the myth of the clutch game.

“To have this success so far in the postseason with one of your friends, it means a lot,” James said. “I apologize for the way it happened, but I knew that this opportunity was once in a lifetime and to be able to come down here and pair up with two guys and pair up with this organization — in order for me to move on in my career, that team that we just defeated — had to go through them at some point.”

After spending most of her career in traditional print sports journalism, Cindy began blogging and tweeting, first as NFL/Redskins editor, and, since August 2010, at The Early Lead. She also is the social media editor for Sports.
