The opening day of NFL madness was fairly quiet as far as big-name quarterbacks, like Donovan McNabb, Matt Hasselbeck, Kevin Kolb, Kyle Orton and Vince Young, were concerned.

That is changing, rapidly. Hasselbeck reportedly has reached agreement on a deal with the Tennessee Titans. The Vikings and Redskins reportedly have a deal in place for McNabb, who must take a pay cut. He’s said that isn’t an issue, but we shall see.

For sheer unexpected drama, there’s the burning question no one though they’d be asking today: Who will get Matt Leinart? Pete Carroll in Seattle? The Redskins?

There were plenty of rumors: Plaxico Burress and the Giants talking; Mark Sanchez saying he’s willing to take a pay cut; Santonio Holmes is still available. And Nnamdi Asomugha is still out there, too.

It’s on to another busy day. Keep up with the wheeling and dealing on Twitter or here. And keep checking The Early Lead for more detailed posts on breaking news.
