Changes in NFL uniforms? Aggressive changes?
Yikes! And ... hmmmm. This could be interesting, like hats-at-a-royal-wedding interesting. Nike Brand President Charlie Denson told CNBC’s Darren Rovell that, when the company’s NFL contract kicks in next April, there will be changes and the company might just shake things up for some teams, as it did with college football last year. Nike’s special uniforms for some college teams, including a combat look, were met with mixed reviews.
“We're going to be aggressive,” Denson said. “Some teams are willing to go further than others.”
This doesn’t mean there’ll be wild changes across the board. Some teams dare not change their look and you’d think a certain Washington team would be among them. But if retail sales and aggressive designs are related, might there be some bold new burgundy-and-gold gear for sale?
Reaction to the Redskins angle, via Twitter:
@wfederman: I for one look forward to the BURGUNDY & BLACK inspired uniforms. Zorn was truly ahead of his time.
