Aaron Maybin, a first-round draft pick who was a bust with the Buffalo Bills, is expected to sign with the New York Jets today, pending results of a physical.
The Bills released Maybin, an ineffective pass rusher who was the 11th overall pick in the 2009 draft, on Monday. Maybin played in 26 games for the Bills and did not have a single sack. He is en route to the Jets’ facility, ESPN New York’s Rich Cimini reported.
The Jets are looking to upgrade their draft rush and the possible addition of Maybin is prompting some anxiety among Jets fans for whom the memory of Vernon Gholston, a bust the team released last February, is still fresh. Together, Gholston and Maybin have zero sacks.
