Report: Joe Theismann, Matt Millen out of ‘Thursday Night Football’

Joe Theismann and Matt Millen will be replaced by Mike Mayock on the NFL Network’s “Thursday Night Football” broadcasts, according to an SI.com report.

If and when, you know, there are NFL game telecasts.

The network also is considering hiring Gus Johnson to replace Bob Papa as the play-by-play announcer, according to the same report. An NFL Network spokesperson declined to comment to SI’s Richard Deitsch. (Yes, please, NFL Network. Make this happen.)

Theismann joined the network last season.

After spending most of her career in traditional print sports journalism, Cindy began blogging and tweeting, first as NFL/Redskins editor, and, since August 2010, at The Early Lead. She also is the social media editor for Sports.
