The NFL plans to fine Denver Broncos Coach John Fox and defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio about $20,000 each, ESPN reports, for their open criticism of replacement referees during the Monday night game.

NFL officials, Adam Schefter reports, even called the coaches at halftime to tell them to temper their criticism. As of Sunday morning, neither coach had been fined, though.

Last week, the NFL sent a memo to teams warning them about criticizing referees who are replacing the regular crews, who are locked out in a labor dispute.

Fox’s Jay Glazer reports that both sides in the labor dispute will be talking, but, in the interim, it’ll be interesting to see whether the NFL can impose order after the replacements could not.
