Celebrity mogul Donald Trump’s announcement Thursday afternoon that he is backing Mitt Romney is a classic “me for me” endorsement, as our colleagues at The Fix have noted – a move that appears to help the endorser more than the endorsee.

Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (Fla.) took to Twitter on Thursday afternoon to mock Trump’s announcement.

“Next up: Who is Snooki going to endorse? #Trumpendorsement” Wasserman Schultz tweeted.

For her part, Snooki – also known as Nicole Polizzi, one of the stars of MTV’s “Jersey Shore” reality series – had not weighed in on the Trump endorsement via Twitter as of Thursday afternoon. But one day earlier, she tweeted to her nearly five million followers that she “will not be voting for” New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R), who had earlier knocked the reality TV stars.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney also poked fun at the Trump endorsement at Thursday’s press briefing.

“Asked about a Trump endorsement, white house @PressSec makes quick joke: ‘I won’t comb over that,’ ” CNN’s Jessica Yellin reported via Twitter.
