Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill (D) beat Rep. Todd Akin (R) in a race that gained national notoriety thanks to the Republican challenger's comments on pregnancy and rape.

McCaskill was considered one of the most vulnerable Democrats up for reelection this year.
