And that explains why this snippet from an NBC interview with Gawker Media boss Nick Denton is so refreshing. After pleading guilty to all manner of journalistic offenses — including rumor-mongering — Denton makes this disclosure about his properties:

People need to get their head around the fact that the Web is different — that we publish faster, we change faster, we correct faster. And frankly, the standards of publication are lower.
