Much has been written, reported and commentated regarding New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s embrace of President Obama during the politically crucial days after Superstorm Sandy ruined the Jersey shore. And his choice quote in the exchange below from last night’s “Daily Show” has a good chance of rising above all that noise. Or at least of getting repeated and repeated in future Christie profiles.

Jon Stewart: The week before the storm you were out there, “President Obama couldn’t lead his way out of a paper bag with a fistful of coins…”

Christie: [Laughs]

Stewart: And then right after the storm was over, you were like, “This man is a leader.” Doesn’t that tell you something about the game? What does that tell you about the game?

Christie: What it tells me is that people have different skill sets at different times. That’s what it tells me.

The audience cackled.
