ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl has issued a statement in response to criticism of his May 10 story on the Benghazi talking points:
“I regret that one email was quoted incorrectly and I regret that it’s become a distraction from the story, which still entirely stands. I should have been clearer about the attribution. We updated our story immediately when new information became available.” As critics from Rachel Maddow through Jay Rosen have noted, clearer attribution surely would have helped. The story, after all, claimed that ABC News had obtained e-mails when it merely received summaries that, in one case, didn’t match the actual text.

Yet the real problem with the story is that in publishing it, ABC News took leave of its longstanding, deep-seated biases!

Read here, for example, about ABC News’s “stunning liberal bias.” Read here about how Disney CEO Bob Iger was confronted at a shareholder meeting about ABC News’s “liberal bias.” Read here about how a Fox News host was disappointed in the amount of air time ABC News accorded to the Benghazi whistleblower hearing. Read here about a whole mess of alleged ABC News atrocities in favor of lefty positions and causes.

If ABC News tilts so strongly to the left, why on earth is it publishing e-mail “summaries” from people who are clearly out to get the Obama administration? Get back in your lane, ABC News!
