Much attention has been lavished on the move of Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly from her afternoon show to a high-profile slot in prime time. Less attention has been paid to Gretchen Carlson, the “Fox & Friends” veteran who slid up to fill part of Kelly’s old daytime show. Carlson was complicit in many of the clowny moments that helped cement “Fox & Friends” as cable news’s most risible program, yet she skillfully moderated a powder keg of a segment today on the application by a satanic group to place a statue at the Oklahoma State Capitol to provide company for a monument to the Ten Commandments. On the panel were David Silverman, president of the American Atheists, Catholic League President Bill Donohue and Rabbi Shmuley Boteach. In a question to Silverman, Carlson said, “Is this the response to the ability of being able to have free speech? The Ten Commandments went up, so would you agree that they should be able to put this up there?”
The devil will never get a fairer shake on Fox News.
