There are some good ones on the list, literary mines that the Erik Wemple Blog itself attempts to avoid. Like:

The narrative (unless referring to a style of writing)

Needless to say (then don’t say it)

Double down

And some head-scratchers. Like:


Totally legitimate verb.

Reading through the list, though, confers a sense of professional self-loathing. As in, how can one industry inflict so much pain?
