The new CNN.com
The new CNN.com

Don’t dare call what CNN just did to its Web site a “redesign.” That would be short-shrifting what is a “total re-platforming of one of the largest and most trafficked sites in the world,” according to a release from Andrew Morse, CNN Digital’s GM. Don’t say, either, that the new look is designed to facilitate browsing from a variety of devices and technologies — instead, it “automatically re-optimizes for any device engaging with CNN.com,” according to Morse. Don’t suggest that the flashy bio pages are informative and easy to read — instead, the “New talent profiles, program and series pages encourage deeper and more organic engagement.” And don’t forget that CNN.com’s “new content management system (CMS) enables seamless integration of social elements — from Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. – right into story pages.” Good thing the actual product is far more accessible than the language used to describe it.
