A surge of tributes hit the Internet in the days after the February death of David Carr, the New York Times columnist who wrote memorably about media and entertainment (and was a close friend of the Erik Wemple Blog). Last night at the 19th Annual Webby Awards, CNN media correspondent Brian Stelter added another one, remembering his former colleague as “webby before the web, or these webbies, were around. He was a natural-born connector of people and ideas.” Carr himself might have quarreled with Stelter’s contention that he “wasted no words” in his long pieces but would have been touched by this lovely remembrance.
