How much of a boost does a business get from a president’s visit? After the folks at the Washington sandwich shop Taylor Gourmet got a visit from President Obama on May 16, they decided to crunch the numbers and find out.
President Obama spent exactly 15 minutes at Taylor Gourmet. That visit was enough to boost the stores’ sandwich sales by 15 percent. Orders for the Spruce Street (Obama’s hoagie of choice) jumped from 21 each day to 53 after the President’s visit.
