Sure, you can already get access to Facebook on your iPad using the app created for the iPhone and iPod Touch or through the Web. But the new program is expected to let users take full advantage of the tablet’s larger screen and touch capabilities.

The report, citing unnamed sources who’ve been briefed on the app, said that it will make full use of the tablet’s cameras and will display full-resolution videos and photos. Facebook CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg is said to be personally involved in the app’s design.

Right now, the only tablet-maker with an optimized Facebook app is Research in Motion, which released the app for its BlackBerry PlayBook in May.
