Groupon and LiveNation, the parent company of Ticketmaster, have teamed up to offer customers deals on concerts and other live events. The companies have launched a new joint initiative, Groupon Live, that will be a localized platform for LiveNation events.

The partnership, slated to launch this summer, will give customers deals for concerts, sporting events, theater and arts events, a joint release from the companies said.

“GrouponLive represents a new channel to drive value for fans, while helping artists and others to reach ever larger audiences,” said Live Nation Entertainment President and chief executive Michael Rapino in a statement. “By adding this channel to our ticketing platform, we will also provide our venue partners with another option for driving ticket sales across a wide range of events.”

The deal also expands what Groupon offers — the service normally recommends restaurant, event and business deals, but doesn’t often offer coupons for live events.

The daily deals site is also expected to launch its real-time coupon service, Groupon Now, in the coming weeks. The mobile service will let customers look for nearby, ongoing deals by opting to share their location with the site.
