Report: Apple iOS 4.2 may drop today, not Friday

There’s a rumor going around that Apple will release the next version of its iOS today, Tuesday, instead of its expected release date on Friday to coincide with the first sales of the iPad 2.

Boy Genius Report published a report Tuesday morning that their sources have said Apple is planning to launch the new mobile operating system at 10 a.m., Pacific Time.

The same sources, addressing other rumors floating around, told the Web site that the iPhone hotspot feature can indeed support up to five connections, though the maximum number of devices is up to the discretion of the carrier. Reports had surfaced over the past couple of days that the iPhone would only be able to support three devices with its mobile hotspot feature.
