Sony will continue PSP Go production in the U.S., according to report from Joystiq.

“We are continuing production of PSP Go for North America,” Sony told the tech blog.

According to Joystiq, had updated the PSP Go’s listing to say it had been “discontinued by manufacturer” several weeks ago, prompting Sony to tell them that they were continuing shipments of the device.

Then, earlier this week, the Japanese press reported that the PSP Go would be discontinued, though there was no word on the fate of the handheld in the U.S. until now.

The PSP Go hasn’t been particularly successful with gamers and it wasn’t a surprise to hear reports that it was being pushed aside for the Xperia Play and the next-generation portable.

In fact, it’s a bit more surprising to hear that it’s sticking around.
