Xbox calls for volunteers to test new disc format

Xbox gamers are being asked to help Microsoft test a new disc format for the Xbox 360. A post from Xbox’s Major Nelson, aka Director of Programming Lawrence Hryb, issued an open call for members of Xbox Live interested in helping with System Update Preview Program.

The post provides few details about what, exactly, is new about the disc format. In fact, all the post asks for is a few thousand U.S. volunteers that want to help in exchange for a copy of Halo:Reach.

To sign up, head over to the Microsoft Connect site and sign in with your Xbox Live gamertag. Then, complete a survey and wait to be contacted.

Members of the paid Xbox Live Gold program will be given preference over Silver members.

Hryb has updated his post to say that the preview will not impact voice/party chat.
