As Atlantis prepares for the final space shuttle lift-off this morning, the U.S. Government Printing Office has decided the time is right to offer a history of the program for sale. Wings in Orbit is described as the authoritative history of the shuttle program from its origins to the present.
The book, also available as an ebook, includes imagery and photographs and first-hand accounts of those who worked with the shuttle program.
“This compelling book provides clear, accurate, and authentic accounts from NASA’s best subject matter experts, including aerospace engineers who worked with the shuttle program, and leading experts from the science and academic communities,” the GPO catalogue states. “The book captures the passion of those who devoted their energies to the program’s success for more than three decades.”
