The Washington Post

Some news of our own

The Federal Eye reports on the ebb and flow of the federal government and on the public officials moving up or moving on. Today we have news of our own.

After more than three years at the helm, Ed O’Keefe is moving on to serve as the anchor of 2Chambers, The Washington Post’s congressional blog.

Less than a week after the 2008 presidential elections, Ed and The Post launched The Federal Eye, as a new online home for news on federal agencies, federal workers and the incoming administration. The Eye has become one of The Post’s most popular blogs and a must-read for top government officials and the rank and file, as it documents threatened government shutdowns, congressional oversight, gays in the military, the decline of the U.S. Postal Service and the debate over federal salaries and the size and scope of the federal government.

That conversation and coverage will continue.

A new set of Eyes (pardon the pun) will be named in the coming weeks. In the meantime, Ed and colleagues Joe Davidson, Lisa Rein, Eric Yoder and Steve Vogel, who together form the team covering federal agencies and the federal workforce, will continue reporting on the day’s events and asking our loyal readers to weigh in. We may also invite guest bloggers to join in on occasion.

We appreciate our readers’ loyal support, feedback, and especially the news tips. Keep them coming!
