Adam Carriker re-signs with Redskins

The Washington Redskins have signed starting defensive end Adam Carriker to a new contract, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed Tuesday afternoon.

Carriker, who last season recorded a career-high 5.5 sacks, signed a four-year deal worth 20 million ($7 million guaranteed), according to an NFL Network report.

Acquired from the St. Louis Rams for fifth and seventh-round picks in 2010, Carriker had a solid first season with the team, then flourished in his second year in Washington’s 3-4 system.

With Carriker back in the fold, and 2011 second-round pick Jarvis Jenkins expected to be fully recovered from ACL surgery, Washington has a deep rotation on the left side of the defensive line.
