Brian Orakpo is only Redskin near top of fan Pro Bowl vote

Fan voting for the NFL Pro Bowl ends Monday night, and the Washington Redskins have barely made a dent in the latest totals.

Fans can still vote here until Monday night.

According to last week’s numbers, the Redskins had just one player ranked among the top five at any position. Brian Orakpo was third among NFC outside linebackers with 211,668 votes, well behind Dallas’ DeMarcus Ware (465,399) and Green Bay’s Clay Matthews (448,078).

No other Redskin player was close -- not punter Sav Rocca, not rookie Ryan Kerrigan, not any defensive lineman.

While Lorenzo Alexander is not listed among the top five vote-getters as a special teams player in last week’s numbers, he tweeted Monday morning that he’s currently in fourth place. He’d have a lot of ground to make up. Among special-teamers, Green Bay’s Jarrett Bush had 111,135 votes last week, 50,000 more than any other NFC player.

Just because your favorite Redskin might not win the fan voting doesn’t mean Washington won’t have Pro Bowlers this year. Coaches and players will cast their votes this week. Each of the three groups’ tallies is worth one third of the final outcome.

The Pro Bowl rosters for both teams will be announced next Tuesday, Dec. 27.
