Players returned to Redskins Park following their five-day bye week getaway and were greeted by activity on the site of their planned indoor practice facility.
Trucks were unloading piles of rock and backhoes were digging trenches Monday afternoon as Redskins players were pulling into the park.
The team officially announced plans to construct the bubble on Sept. 1, and received its permit Sept. 30. Construction began Saturday, according to Loudoun County Department of Building & Development documents.
The paperwork described the structure as “special event with inflatables.”
There still is no word on how long the construction will take. The Nov. 1 completion date that Coach Mike Shanahan said he was told to expect when Washington kicked off the season seems unlikely at this point.
