Sunday at Sun Life Stadium, the Cook brothers will stand on opposite sidelines. Erik Cook is a reserve center for the Redskins, and his older brother, Ryan, is a reserve offensive lineman for the Dolphins.

“It’s definitely pretty cool I get to go against my brother,” Erik said Thursday in the locker room.

“I’m definitely going to stir the pot today,” Erik said Thursday in the locker room.

Erik said he has started stirring the pot in his own locker room, though. “I’ve been talking crap to [Stephen] Bowen and Barry [Cofield] and all them, saying, ‘If my brother gets in, he’s gonna whup you,’” Erik said with a chuckle.

Ryan saw some playing time last week in the Dolphins’ win at Kansas City. Erik, however, has been replaced at center by Will Montgomery for the Redskins.

The two brothers expect their family to fly from New Mexico to watch in person as the backyard rivalry moves over to a giant football stadium.

“He was strictly a one-sport guy. He always liked football and I was always doing other stuff. So I’d claim I was better than him at everything,” Erik said, “and I think I still am.”
