Darrel Young out Saturday against Indianapolis, Brian Orakpo drill in practice

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said he doesn’t expect fullback Darrel Young to play Saturday against the Colts. Young had hoped to play, but Shanahan said trainers described Young a 85-90 percent recovered from a hamstring injury. Young could play in the preseason finale against Tampa Bay, Shanahan said..

Running back Tim Hightower missed practice to attend his grandfather’s funeral, Shanahan said.

Linebacker Brian Orakpo went through drills today, but isn’t ready to play yet, Shanahan said. Running back Roy Helu Jr. went through warmups but remains day-to-day.

Shanahan said that safety Tanard Jackson has made strides in his knowledge of the defense. He said Brandon Meriweather’s injury creates an opportunity for Jackson and the other safeties to show coaches their abilities.
