Effects of FB Darrel Young’s concussion appear mild

Washington Redskins fullback Darrel Young doesn’t appear to have any lingering effects from a mild concussion he suffered in the team’s 23-17 victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

The second-year pro will continue to be evaluated, but there is a good chance he will return to action this week.

Young had two catches Sunday for 22 yards (including a 21-yard catch-and-run with 5:18 left in the second quarter). He left the game after that play, but it was unclear whether that was when he suffered the concussion.

Mike Sellers took over at fullback and played the rest of the game, recording one catch for 15 yards.

Young, a 5-foot-11, 246-pound back from Villanova unseated Sellers as the starer this season. He has posted seven catches for 65 yards and one carry for seven yards.

Mike Jones covers the Washington Redskins for The Washington Post. When not writing about a Redskins development of some kind – which is rare – he can be found screaming and cheering at one of his kids’ softball, baseball, soccer or basketball games.
