The Redskins have apparently lost one of their most promising rookies for the season, as defensive end Jarvis Jenkins said he suffered a torn ACL in Thursday’s 34-31 loss at Baltimore.
Jenkins was scheduled for an early morning MRI and shared the news on Twitter. “Redskin fans thanks for the support I love you all . . . unfortunately it is a ACL tear. . . .”
The second-round pick out of Clemson had been among the most impressive rookies this preseason and was expected to be a key contributor on the Redskins’ revamped defensive line. He started his second preseason game Thursday night but didn’t last long.
On the Ravens’ second offensive possession, Baltimore running back Ray Rice took a handoff and headed Jenkins’ way. Rice cut back, though, and Jenkins said he felt a pop in his right knee as he tried to plant his foot and change directions.
Following the game, Jenkins was on crutches but remained hopeful
“I’m gonna work harder than I’ve ever worked to get back I love this game too much,” he wrote in a second tweet Friday morning.
