John Madden picked the Washington Redskins’ front five as the top performing offensive line in Week 2 of NFL action after Sunday’s 22-21 comeback victory over the Cardinals.
Madden picks an offensive line each week that he believes performed the best. The unit is entered into contention for an annual award.
“Washington’s offensive line did a great job protecting Rex Grossman and setting up a balanced offensive attack,” Madden said of tackles Trent Williams and Jammal Brown, guards Chris Chester and Kory Lichtensteiger and center Will Montomery. The Redskins’ offensive line on Sunday paved the way for 455 yards in total offense (including 283 passing and 172 rushing) and gave up just one sack.
The Buffalo Bills’ offensive line was named the Week 1 Madden Protectors Award. Madden in Week 2 picked Washington over the Buffalo, New England, Pittsburgh and Detroit offensive lines.
The weekly and annual award is sponsored by Prilosec OTC.
