Kirk Cousins impersonation of Mike Shanahan earns standing ovation

Quarterback Kirk Cousins drew raves for his impersonation of Coach Mike Shanahan as part of a skit Tuesday evening as the Washington Redskins rookies began the annual ritual of performing talent-show acts to entertain the team’s veterans.

Shanahan said following Wednesday’s practice at Redskins Park: “He had me down perfect…. He acted just like me, which is a little embarrassing at times.”

Cousins received a standing ovation for his performance.

“I was scared we were going to get crickets,” Cousins said.

The fourth-round draft pick said he had spoken to Shanahan and Redskins assistant coaches beforehand to make sure he wouldn’t be offending those who control his immediate football future.

“Hopefully he doesn’t cut me,” Cousins said.
