Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said strong safety LaRon Landry is out for Sunday’s game against the Jets with a groin injury. This is the second game in the last three weeks that Landry will miss. He previously missed time with a strained Achilles’ tendon. He missed the first two games with a hamstring strain.
Shanahan said of Landry: “It really tore him up” not to be able to play. Shanahan said he believes that Landry has been hampered this season by his inability to rehab with the team during the lockout.
Meanwhile, fullback Darrel Young (concussion), linebacker London Fletcher (ankle), and receivers Niles Paul (toe) and Terrence Austin (hamstring) all are questionable for the game.
Shanahan said Young passed the baseline tests for returning from a concussion and a decision will be made tomorrow on whether he will play.
Shanahan said Rex Grossman’s sore left shoulder isn’t a problem any more.
