Oshiomogho Atogwe out for Redskins vs. Panthers

The Washington Redskins will be without starting free safety Oshiomogho Atogwe as they take on the hosting Carolina Panthers today at Bank of America Stadium.

Atogwe, suffering from a knee injury sustained in last week’s game against the Eagles, didn’t practice all week. Reed Doughty will start in his place.

Also inactive for the Redskins will be injured tight end Chris Cooley (finger/knee), tackle Trent Williams (ankle), and cornerback Byron Westbrook (hamstring). Healthy scratches are receiver Donte Stallworth, linebacker Markus White, defensive lineman Darrion Scott.

With Stallworth inactive, rookie receiver Leonard Hankerson will be active for the first time this season. Cornerback Phillip Buchanon also will make his season debut.

With Cooley out and Logan Paulsen serving as the second tight end, Mike Sellers will be active and serve as third tight end/backup fullback.

Mike Jones covers the Washington Redskins for The Washington Post. When not writing about a Redskins development of some kind – which is rare – he can be found screaming and cheering at one of his kids’ softball, baseball, soccer or basketball games.
