Quick hits: Redskins WR Anthony Armstrong will get x-rays

Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said Anthony Armstrong, who injured his right shoulder in practice today will have x-rays on it, but the belief is that he will be fine.

Shanahan said that safety DeJon Gomes sat with a shoulder injury, and likely will be out a couple of days. Backup tackle James Lee missed practice with a knee injury, while backup receiver Lance Lewis had a groin injury.

Linebacker Bryan Kehl was absent today because his wife had a baby, Shanahan said.

The coach said he still has not had any communication with Kentwan Balmer or his agent. He said Balmer cleared everything out of his hotel room.

Shanahan expects receiver Josh Morgan (hamstring) to be back on the field Monday.

Shanahan said Jammal Brown will return from New York this evening and begin treatment at Redskins Park.

Shanahan expects Robert Griffin III and the offensive starters to play 12 to 20 plays in the first preseason game a week from today.

Mike Jones covers the Washington Redskins for The Washington Post. When not writing about a Redskins development of some kind – which is rare – he can be found screaming and cheering at one of his kids’ softball, baseball, soccer or basketball games.
