The Washington Redskins have promoted defensive end Doug Worthington to the 53-man roster, filling the roster spot previously held by injured strong safety LaRon Landry.
The team also promoted tight end Rob Myers from the practice squad to the 53-man roster and released tight end Dominique Byrd for a second time this season.
Worthington had spent the entire regular season on the practice squad. The Ohio State product was drafted in the seventh round by Pittsburgh in 2010 but never played a game for the Steelers. He also spent time with Tampa Bay, but didn’t appear in a game last season.
Myers, who went to Utah State, has spent time with the Jets, Eagles, Patriots, Bills and Colts, but never played in a game.
